About Butterfly

Hikosuke Tamasu founded Tamasu Co., Ltd. in the small town of Yanai City, Japan in 1950. This was the beginning of a company career which is almost unique in table tennis. A renowned international for Japan, Tamasu fulfilled his dream of a lifetime when he made his hobby his profession. At that time, he could hardly imagine that he would make Butterfly the leading brand worldwide. Creativity, durability, and a profound technical knowledge meant success. 0ver and over again he looked for new possibilities in order to optimize techniques by innovative playing material. Tamasu realized that each player is different and has strengths and weaknesses. By offering individual playing material Tamasu wanted to help players right from the beginning to emphasize their individuality. Since 1983 Butterfly has its own training and research center in Tokyo. Highly qualified scientists co-operate with world class players and coaches for the development of rubber and blade technology. Butterfly's rubbers and blades are used by more than half of the participants at World and European Championships.

Customer Reviews :
Great buy light weight even bounce...should last for around 10 hrs each ball based on my first few, much lighter and less bouncy than the ITTF balls but for a practice ball can't complain and I am an intermediate level medallist here at Singapore. These balls a great buy even for Asian/costs and standards...
Irregular and generally bad quality - not one 3-star ball in the bucket - BC -
I had several issues with these balls and will be returning them immediately.

1. When I opened the bucket, several of the balls had clearly been used previously. They had scuff marks and were slightly off-white. One was cracked.

2. I checked each and every ball in the bucket. Many seemed thin or even "soft", on some I could feel the seem, on others I could see irregularities at the seem.

3. I've played ping pong nearly every day with coworkers for 3 years. We always use 3-star balls and have never had quality issues until we bought these. We "test drove" a couple of them, and they bounced poorly compared to other 3-star balls we have (think of an old tennis ball compared to a fresh one). They also didn't have a uniform bounce from one ball to the next. One was bad, but another was just horrible. There were a lot more errant shots than usual, and after a few games we knew these balls were garbage.

If you need to buy a bucket for an office tournament or a boyscout troupe then maybe these are a good deal, but any player with an ounce of skill will hate them. I don't know how they can call these 3-star balls.

THESE ARE FAKE BALLS! - Roger -
These balls suck so badly they're not even U.S.A.T.T approved. Also the image of the product doesn't even look like the image shown on the web..

IN ENGLISH:

I think this product with the image of an original Butterfly ball is a hoax for customers and users of Amazon and VERY BAD FOR the good name of Amazon. As regards the quality of the balls, is very bad as they are very light and seem to eggs, i.e. ARE NOT ROUND.

I believe that the cost of $ 28 per 72 of these balls is very high. A cost of $ 28 on 144 balls would be fairer and more appropriate. I live in Bogota-Colombia, went active selection of Bogotá table tennis player for many years, and therefore assure you that my view of the balls is correct.

On the other hand, as far from my location I considered impractical to return the product, taking into account the cost product vs. the cost of the devolutión. In summary, my suggestion is that this product should be withdrawn from Amazon for protect its good name and also protect your users from being victims of deception to buy a product that does not correspond with the image being published and the worst, buy a product of very poor quality supply.

Low quality, be aware!! - FAISAL -
Since you are looking at an item that contains 72 balls, I am going to assume you are a serious player who wants to improve your game and intend to use these balls for multi-ball drill or for tournament/league play. I would strongly advise you to stay away from this item. Here are the reasons why:

1. These are not ITTF approved as the original Butterfly balls are. The label says USATT approved, which does not translate to quality.
2. I found each ball are off different weights.
3. Many of them are so unbalanced because of the seam and uneven weight distribution of the two parts. If side spin is applied, the ball will display a vibrating motion as it would if one side is heavier than the other.

I seriously doubt that this is a genuine Butterfly product. My guess is that MK(Martin Kilpatrick) is branding these balls as butterfly and selling it for cheap price. I have been using butterfly balls for a long time and never ever I have seen such low quality.
